Nesting Before Surgery

I always had that urge of nesting toward the end of each of my four pregnancies. Time to get the nursery done, wash the clothes, prep the hospital bag, take care of errands, organize the house a bit more, and personal grooming details that I might not have time for once the baby came.

I get the same feeling with these surgeries. Part of it comes from being a mom and wife that doesn't want to burden my family. Not only will they have to assume the jobs I do around the house, they will also have to take care of me. And this go around, I am not rushing my recovery, because I cannot get sick like last time.

However, nesting sometimes is irrational. I thought that needing to get eyelash extensions was super important at the end of my last pregnancy. I justified it with the argument that I would be more photo-ready than trying to put on actual makeup in the hospital. So I had set up a few different appointments to be ready in case he came early. It was so unnecessary, but at the time it just had to be done.

After taking care of my list today, I realized I wasn't just bring productive on a Monday. I had a deadline, a due date... My surgery date. So, in my irrational nesting phase, here are the things I think just absolutely have to get done before next Tuesday:

  • Schedule dogs annual shots

  • Pay misc bills

  • Find new gyno & schedule appt

  • Get dogs groomed

  • Look into getting husband new phone

  • Line bathroom drawers with contact paper

  • Replace any burned out bulbs in house

  • Reorganize closet drawers

  • Catch up on laundry & dishes

  • Paint nails

  • Pack hospital bag

So, I am trucking along through my crazy list. Why some of these are so important to me right now, I may never understand. Thankfully, my family is just going with it all and helping as much as they can.

My biggest priority right now is to find my cheetah print neck brace cover that I got from www.collarcover.com and put it in my hospital bag. I can't find it anywhere! This memory loss and confusion from the meningitis is killin' me!
