Repeat Surgeries

It sounds kind of crazy to have a specific surgery over and over. To be cut into the same spot repeatedly and heal from a familiar surgery again. Who wants to do that?!
However it isn't as uncommon as it feels. Mom's do it all the time with C-sections. Patients with heart issues sometimes get their repairs done in stages. Cancer patients get tumors removed that regrow and get them removed again. Heck, even my sister had multiple intestinal resections from her Crohn's disease. So I have plenty of company with a repeat surgery.
I have had my implant installed, removed, and now it will be installed again. Third time's a charm, right? I'm praying that the next time we go in this way will be to replace the battery in about 10 years.
I don't like the idea of having to recover again. And, because of the first surgery, this one will have an extra careful and cautious recovery. I'm looking forward to the remaining six seasons of Grey's Anatomy I have on Netflix. I'm not looking forward to the isolation or the pain or all the follow up appointments. I'm most looking forward to the results. I am looking toward September, when I should be well recovered from both surgeries.
I guess, just knowing the pain and the restrictions ahead of time can be comforting. I've done this before, I can do it again. But, sometimes, I wish I could go in blind and unknowing.
At least I do have some new precautions in place, so it won't be a complete repeat of the first surgery.
